Preliminary Agenda :
Everyone will camp at base camp.
Sasquatch Patrol hiking 10+ miles with day packs (conditioning for backpacking) and some of Sasquatch patrol will need to work on map and compass. They will hike corridor trail plus around the Mnt. Possible pick up in van at end of hike and shuttle back to camp.
Dragon Patrol will have a similar hike distance at slower pace with day packs (to start getting them ready for short backpack trip).
Flaming Arrow Patrol will work on 5 mile hike with day pack (Tender Foot requirement) and use map and compass (they will focus on Tenderfoot hiking related advancement to include hike related first aid). Dragon patrol will continue working on cooking requirements (1st Class) and Flaming Arrow patrol 2nd class cooking requirements. Also will work on ToteNChip .
The Scout Master has recommended a dessert competition between patrols.
Requirement sign off event that is mainly targeting scouts from Flaming Arrow Patrol that attended Camp Daniel Boone summer camp and were in the “Goin’ Great” classes. These classes covered several requirements from Tenderfoot, 2nd Class, 1st Class and even Star rank. This will be a great opportunity for these scouts to get requirements signed off that they can demonstrate they can do. This event invites all of our troop scouts to come that have requirements they are ready to demonstrate (not just restricted to scouts that attended CDB “Goin’ Great” program). Also would like to invite our troop’s older scouts to participate by helping younger scouts with requirement sign offs. This event will meet at the church parking lot near troop trailer area. Please advise scouts to bring class “B” uniform and bring scout handbook, note paper and pen with them.
It would benefit Jeff Vannoy and Robert Ryals if the scouts can let them know it they are coming by the Thursday troop meeting (so they have an idea of how many to expect). I believe an additonal adult to help would also be helpful.
Scouts need to be in the church parking lot at 5:45 pm, we will depart at 6:15 pm.
Scouts that have passed their BSA Swim Test will go on a 4 mile canoe trip on Jordan Lake.
Other scouts will take a 5 mile hike and learn map and compass skills.
Everyone will try their luck at landing a fish Saturday afternoon.
The Boy Scout Troop 614 semi annual Court of Honor
On August 24 at 5:30 to 8:30, we are having our next court of honor at Fuquay Varina Baptist Church, and this time, it’s going to be different. Due to the recent addition of a property nicknamed “the field of dreams”, we will be mostly outside for this event.
At this court of honor, food will be served, made by none other than our scouts themselves, including desert items such as cobbler or cakes. Scouts must meet at 3:30 for preparations. Awards will be given, and a slideshow of this past half years events will be shown. Please RSVP so we know how much food we need. Thank you.
